Welcome to Travel with Purpose! I’m Vicky Albaugh…
I have been a Christian since I was a teenager. I accepted the Lord as Savior when I was 13 years old. My friend, Julie Bock lead me to the Lord. It was her faith that pointed me to Christ and His saving grace. Julie spent over 30 years leading people to Christ as a full-time missionary in Spain.
When I was 18 and graduating from high school, I wanted to be a full-time missionary. I was accepted to Trinity Bible College in North Dakota. I packed my bags and my boxes and I flew from Arizona to North Dakota for a new adventure. I did attend Trinity for one and a half years. That was a great time for me. I met so many wonderful new friends and I grew in my faith.
The time at Trinity was cut short since my mom was home in Arizona and her health was declining. I made the decision to return home and help her and pursue a degree in nursing. Upon returning home, I started dating Dean and we were married seven months later in September 1982. A couple of years later we started our family and I returned to college and finished my degree for respiratory therapy and much later as a cardiac sonographer. I’m still working full-time as a cardiac sonographer.
The joy of my life is my husband, Dean and our three sons and their families.
They are all grown up now. Ryan is married to Megan and they adopted our grandson, Caleb in 2016 and also Paisley, our granddaughter was born in 2016. They are nine months apart! Our son Travis is married to Emily and they haven’t started their family yet. Our youngest son, Austin is living with us and working out and losing weight to join the Air Force soon.
My husband, Dean and I met at church in a college-age group. We were young when we married and now it’s been over 35 years! We have been through trials but nothing that we couldn’t survive with the Lord guiding us. Our love grows stronger as we grow older. We are truly blessed!
As long as I can remember, I have always loved overseas missions.
I have always had a dream of traveling the world telling others the good news of Jesus Christ. I have had a few opportunities to travel on mission trips but not as many as I would like to have. Now that I’m over 55, I feel the urgency to go on more short-term mission trips.
My desire is to encourage others through my website and new book, “From the Couch to the Mission Field.”
I have started Travel with Purpose and wrote my book as a way to share my passion with you. My desire is to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and get involved in missions. I explain in my book just how easy it to go and participate.
It’s never too late to share the gospel. Now is your time to travel, especially when your kids are grown and out of the house.
Encouraging others in my age group to participate in missions, at home or overseas.
